My name is Anja van den Bos.
I founded Culture Refined. The past 12 years I have been engaged in several organizations and worked with passion and dedication towards a more inclusive and accessible cultural world.
With Culture Refined I work on several projects regarding improvement of the social safety within the organization. I have spearheaded numerous art education projects and accessibility initiatives in partnership with local and national organizations. I was responsible for executing an innovative approach to making the programs accessible for expanding audience members. Examples include the music education program, City of Sounds and setting up the first sensory-friendly productions in the Netherlands for neurodivergent children.
Apart from my work in these partnerships, I coordinated various events such as Festival De Betovering. I also managed planning and touring for the renowned Netherlands Dance Theatre (NDT) and assisted in project leadership for Theater Inclusief, examining diversity and inclusion in the Dutch cultural sector. Currently I’m working on projects on social safety at Holland Dance Festival and the Stadsschouwburg Utrecht.
In my personal life, I’m a city dweller who, naturally, enjoys the arts, culture, and deep dives into language learning. Apart from knowing Dutch and Frisian, my native languages, and English, I’m apt in German, Spanish, and Italian and I am currently learning Turkish.
